Hi my loves! A while ago the legendary skincare brand The Ordinary came out with two foundations and they quickly became really popular. I know this review is quite late, but I know a lot of people still haven’t tried them yet, so I thought I would do a blog post anyway. And since they came out with TWO foundations, people kept asking “which one should I pick?”, “which one is best?”, “what’s the difference?”

I actually bought the Serum foundation first. I tried it out, fell in love and just had to order the other one. So let’s talk about them:Serum Foundation SPF 15: A lightweight, natural coverage foundation.

Available in 21 shades, Serum Foundation SPF 15 is suitable for all skin tones. With a weightless feel, this smooth foundation creates a semi-matte finish that skims over lines and imperfections for a flawless day look. So I first thought it was a light coverage foundation, since it had the name ‘serum’ in it and it’s even described that way, but I don’t agree with that at all.

It’s medium to full coverage. t looks lightweight on the skin, but it covers. I’m not sure how it would be for someone with acne, maybe they would disagree. I have dry skin and have a hard time finding foundations that works for me. This one looked so stunning and dewy on my skin. It doesn’t look heavy at all and it blends like a dream. I really have no complaints. And it comes in a light enough shade! Yay. I’m using the “Very Fair 1.0N – Very fair neutral”.

Coverage Foundation SPF 15: A lightweight, full coverage foundation.

Available in 21 shades, Coverage Foundation SPF 15 is suitable for all skin tones. Rich and buildable, this cream like texture smooths seamlessly over skin to even, conceal and disguise fine lines and wrinkles.

This doesn’t look as flawless the Serum one. It looks a bit heavy and very dry, it didn’t sit well on my skin the way the other one did. I know a lot of people with oily skin even said it was too dry for them. I also know a lot of people have had different experiences, so it’s really up to you and your skin. All I know is  that this didn’t impress me as much, and the Serum foundation is definitely the winner.

I’m curious to try mixing the two, just for fun. I think that would make an awesome combination. And I will of course keep wearing the Serum foundation, it’s truly my new favorite and I would 100% recommend it!
